DHI – Direct Hair Implantation

Hair transplantation in Turkey is developing technologically day by day. The method was first used in Korea and is currently state-of-the-art.

Not everyone is willing to use this method of transplantation in practice, we will remain indifferent to the opinion whether it is the best.

The traditional FUE method consists of several stages, three to be precise: harvesting, opening the canals and implanting the hair.

Each of these steps is performed at a different point in the hair transplant.

It is different in the case of DHI – Direct Hair Implantation, when the two stages, i.e. opening the canals and implanting the follicles , are combined at the same time.

DHI in practice.

Durring hair transplant by DHI using the Choi pen, the surgeon or medical team insert the hair follicles into the DHI tool.

Choi’s feather is given to the surgeon, who inserts the needle into the scalp at a 40-45 degree angle. After pressing the button, he removes the needle leaving the newly implanted hair in the skin of the recipient area.

During the entire procedure Hair transplant uses from six to ten Choi feathers (depending on the number of grafts transplanted) and as many as about 15 needles, which are of different thicknesses, matched to each hair follicle, depending on the amount of hair in the cluster.

Advantages of DHI hair transplant

• Retrieved hair follicles are implanted in very short time.
• The DHI implant enables surgical precision, leading to a natural end result.
• Significantly reduced bleeding in the recipient area during hair follicle implantation.
• The scalp will not bleed out, allowing faster recovery. In this way, the patient can return to daily activities earlier.
• With this method, the recipient area doesn’t need to be shaved, which is a plus for many people who don’t want to cut their hair.

Disadvantages of the DHI method

• To undertake the procedure, both the surgeon and the medical team must undergo long-term training.
• Compared to other types of hair transplant, DHI is an expensive procedure.
• If the treatment is not performed properly, the scalp may be overused.
• It’s hard to achieve a density close to natural hair because the blade of the Choi pen is wider than others, e.g. used for sapphire Micro FUE.
• May cause lacerations, which is not the case with sapphire blade.

Upon arrival in Istanbul, Turkiye, a private driver will be waiting for you at the airport to arrange transportation throughout your stay. On the day of arrival (the day before surgery), only check-in is required. The next day, after breakfast, your private driver will drive you to the clinic.
